Alex, photographer and founder of Love and Thyme Photography

Meet Alex

A calm presence, a little direction, and plenty of room to be yourselves.

I’m Alex — a photographer, actor, and mother of two.

I love the big smiles, but I’m always watching for what happens in between: the hand reaching for yours, the full-body laugh, the quiet look, the toddler making a break for it.

My approach is rooted in photojournalism, gentle direction, and the belief that your family does not need to perform for the camera. You do not need perfectly behaved children, a spotless home, or everyone smiling at exactly the same time.

I’ll help you feel comfortable, give you something to do when you need it, and then leave room for the expressions, movement, affection, and wonderfully unpredictable moments that make your family unmistakably yours.

Behind the camera

I know what it feels like to be on both sides of the lens.

I’m also an actor, so I know firsthand how vulnerable it can feel to stand in front of a camera. That experience has taught me how much difference a little reassurance, clear direction, and trust can make — and how important it is to feel like yourself while being photographed.

Now, as a parent, I also understand the logistics behind getting everyone dressed, out the door, and emotionally available for photographs. Children may be shy, silly, tired, energetic, or suddenly deeply opposed to the entire plan.

None of that means the session is going badly. It means your family is being a family. My job is to meet you there and make something beautiful from the real thing.

What matters to me

Not just how beautiful it was, but how that moment felt.

I want to make photographs that bring you back to the feeling of this version of your family: the closeness, the chaos, the tiny habits, the people everyone is becoming.

Photographs can be polished without feeling stiff. They can be beautiful without losing the humor, movement, and real life inside them.
